About the team

Our 3rd team play in the Division 3 North (Central) of the England Hockey North West Area

A mix of young and developing players along with some more experienced players who wish to continue to play competitively, a couple alongside their daughters! There is also a clear pathway to the 2nd team with some making the step up most seasons and some now playing in the 1st team.

Recent history:
Joined the league (Division 3) in 2008-09. Re-joining in 2014/15 after a four year break, the team finished bottom with 2 points! The season after was a different story; a promotion to Division 2 after finishing Runners up and a Semi Final of the Lishman Plate. And it's been a continuous rise since then. In 2016/17, the team made further progress, cementing 3rd place in Division 2 leading to a consecutive promotion and they won the Lishman Plate. The same year the 1st team also sealed a League and Cup Double - the Double Double year! In 2017/18 they finished a respectable mid table in Division 1 and in 2019/20, just missed out on promotion to the Premier Division. The 2020/21 season was severely disrupted due to Covid and was abandoned. 2021/22 was the first season in the new nationally restructured format and the team finished a very creditable 3rd. 2022/23 saw the team become clear division champions having won all but one game throughout the season, leading to an incredible 4th place finish in their new division in 2023/24.

Managed and coached by Chris Tomlinson and Steve Foy, the 3rd team train alongside the 4th team on Thursday nights, 6:30-7:30pm at Garstang Community Academy. Additional training (7:30-9:00pm) is also available by invitation to those pushing for the 2nd team. Get in touch with the Head Coach if you fancy joining our friendly club.
