Our 4th team play in the 4th Division North (Central) of the North West Area after a successful 22/23 season which saw them gain promotion.
The team have a great mix of players, combining some veteran players to provide some experience; some of whom have come from our Back2Hockey session who decided they'd like to play a little more competitively and some who have previously played at a higher level, with our junior players gaining valuable experience and skills in senior league hockey.
Recent history:
Only formed in 2016, joining Division 2 of the Lancashire Central Womens Hockey League, our 4ths waited a while to score their first goal. The season started in September and it finally came in March; Holly Swarbrick making 4th team history. The game against Lancaster & Morecambe ended in a 2-1 loss... in the dying seconds... but the goal was celebrated at the end of the game, as if the game had been won, with non alcoholic fizz! Not disheartened in the slightest, despite all the losses, the team created a strong bond and their passion for the sport is infectious and fantastic to see. The 2020/21 season was severely disrupted due to Covid and was abandoned. 2021/22 was the first season in the new nationally restructured format and the team finished 7th. In 2022/23, the team finished top of their league, with only one loss all season, achieving promotion into Division 4. The team has continued to grow and develop, supporting players progressing along the pathway, as well as those playing socially. A really great team to be a part of with 24/25 promising to be a season of fun, laughter and celebration of each other.
The 4th team is coached by Paul Ireland and Brendan Cookson and train on Thursday nights, 6:30-7:30pm at Garstang Community Academy. Get in touch if you fancy joining our friendly club.
